Yarn projects: The baby-sweater-from-patterned-sock-yarn project has picked up a bit. I had been feeling rather thwarted by it. First I had managed to get the yarn in a horrible tangle trying to make sure I was starting in the same place in the pattern for both sleeves. (I'm doing sleeves first.) During a gaming run firstfrost undid my tangle, because she is just way cool that way. Then I was happily knitting along, only to discover after a few inches (much yardage later, this is fingerling weight yarn!) that I had not started in the same place after all. It had looked good. Blue, white, blue, white, blue, brown, blue, brown, blue .... then brown on one and green on the other. Argh! I was swearing "never again", but of course I am way too stubborn to give up on a knitting project that I already have the yarn for, and now that I seem to be in synch on both sleeves its looking darn cute. Maybe cute enough to tempt me to do it again sometime in spite of the sock yarn hassles. Its especially nice for a little boy. The main color looks exactly like faded jeans, and the stripes are in white, brown, pale green and pale blue. I'll take a picture soon and post it. Also in yarn project we have many squares being made for a cotton kid afghan.
Nephew: I have managed to mind control my sister into getting a Flickr account, so pictures are now available of the intended recipient of the above mentioned yarn projects. My parents have been visiting Margaret this past week. Dad goes home today, but Mom stays another week.
