We're on
We're doing IUI this month. I just took my first dose of Clomid. Hooray! Let the migrane begin!

We saw doctor #3 today, henceforth to be known as Dr. Grace. She's a cute and perky, but in a smart way. I ended up liking her a lot.

Not only are we doing IUI this month, but we have a plan. We're doing three months of IUI with Clomid. If that doesn't work we go for three months of IUI with injectables. If that doesn't work we probably get to do IVF.

For this cycle I take Clomid for 5 days starting today, then on the 17th I go in for my first ultrasound to measure the old folicles. Rinse and repeat every couple of days until I get one that's 18mm, then I get told when to do the trigger shot. Then we do inseminations two days running. Then I finally get the progesterone gel I've been wanting for so long.

The only wrinkle was that the pharmacy took forever. When they finally did have my meds it turned out that my company had already switched over the perscription drug coverage, and I didn't have my new card yet. Luckily the Clomid was cheap ($20 for five pills counts as cheap), so I just got that and figured I can pick up the shot and the gel when I go in next week for the ultrasound. I wasn't up for paying the ~$250 for the rest of the stuff out of pocket.

Current Mood: hopeful hopeful

Yippee on taking action! (I was thinking of you today, what with it being day 5 and all.) And an extra special (and not too frustrated) yippee on progesterone!

Hooray for a smart doctor and an actual plan! Good luck - for some reason, I have a really good feeling about this cycle.

I think the pharmacies are still reeling from dealing with all the Medicaid insurance disasters. Hopefully yours will be all set by the time you get the shot and the gel.

Do you have the ultrasound at Harvard Vanguard? The ones I had were all off-site, but I think they may not have a machine at Post Office Square.

It'll be at Kenmore, since I'm doing all the other IUI stuff there. I think the lack of a ultrasound machine is why they don't do IUI at Post Office Square with Dr. Clueful. I'll be getting ultrasounds every two days until I've got a big enough follicle, so that can stack up.

Good Luck

Congratulations and good luck. Here's hoping you get just as fat as you want!

Yay for the plan! Esp. the progesterone part of the plan :). Are you taking oral or, um, the other way?

If it's the gel, doesn't that mean it's the other way? I've never had to swallow a gel.

That would be the other way. I'm not complaining, I get progesterone, and its not shots. I hear that the progesterone-in-oil shots are one of the worst parts of doing IVF.

Actually, my understanding is that "other way" is better in terms of side effects -- because it is delivered locally, you can take a much smaller dose and have it work.
