I was right.... er, yay?
Well, in my previous post 5 months ago I called the election for Trump, and here we are having our very own Brexit moment. I expect that the media will spend a lot of coverage time today on the question 'how could this have possibly happened?' Allow me to explain in a sentence:

Working and lower middle class America just gave the establishment the finger.

Much like any other instance of using an obscene gesture it is highly unlikely to do anything positive except give a very fleeting sense of satisfaction to the person making the gesture, but that usually doesn't stop people.

Your prediction was correct.

Personally I count as positive the prevention of a Clinton presidency that would have done away with freedom of the press and with the right to bear arms, by appointing Supreme Court justices that would have gutted Citizen's United, Heller, and McDonald. I'd prefer for the kids to continue to have the substantial amount of personal liberty guaranteed by robust interpretations of the first and second amendments.

Unfortunately, it seems like most U.S. presidential elections boil down to voting against the greater evil.
