About a month ago the city of Somerville replaced the water pipe going to our house. This involved digging up a large section of the front lawn, including pretty much the entire strip between the sidewalk and street on the east side of the tree. I had some bulbs planted there from a long ago lame attempt at dealing with the weed problem in this area. I figured they were all goners. This morning I saw a single purple crocus open there, plus a few that are just greenery. That's one tough bulb.

In other garden news the purple crocuses near the porch have been doing their thing for a while. Tulip and daffodil greenery has been spotted poking up in the back garden.
